Many people have suffered a lot from nail fungus. If it is not from the pain that comes with its severity, then it is a shame of not being able to freely expose your nails because they are not appealing to the eye. When almost all your nails are clear and looking good, but there is just that nail that stands out because of its yellowish appearance, then you will be self-cautious about it. For many people and especially women, this has had negative effects on them and especially their esteem.
Thank God that this shame has become one of the things that medicine can take care of. A lot of people who had nail fungal infection thought that is the end for them. They never really thought that there could be a solution to that problem and especially in clearing the discoloration of the nail. Therefore, they spent a lot of time covering the shame under nail polish and never dealing with the problem because they are not properly educated about it.
This brings us to a big question. Can nail fungus be cured? The answer is yes. There are so many antifungal products that have been developed to help people treat nail fungus infections effectively. These products come as either:
Antifungal creams, nail polish or gels: antifungal medicines that come in this form are used to treat mild fungus infections or moderate fungus infections. They are easy to use, and they work from the surface. The active ingredients work on the nail to eliminate the infection. All you have to do is apply the cream or gel to the infected nail as instructed by the doctor. They are also very effective in preventing the recurring of fungus infections which happen a lot often.
Antifungal pills: these are medications that are taken orally. They are used when the fungal infection has become severe and is proving hard to treat. Antifungal pills give you the best treatment for fungal infection, and they are effective at clearing the infection completely.
There are other times when treating nail fungus infection requires a very extreme measure. When the infection has become very severe, and treatment with oral pills is proving to be ineffective, there is only one thing that can be done. The infected nail will have to be removed. Also when the infection keeps recurring over and over again, this is the next recommended and last option to salvage the situation.
When the nail is removed, it can be done with or without surgery. Also, note that it may take a while before your nail grows back and especially if it was your toenail. During a course of treatment and even after the treatment, your nail will also take a longer time to get its shape back as well as its clear appearance. Therefore, be patient
In treating the nail fungus infection, it is much more advisable to combine two methods of treatment other than using one and especially for nail removal. This way, you will have better results and in a shorter time. Attacking the problem from all angles is the most effective way.
